Following fluorescence scanning, gels were stained with colloidal coomassie brilliant blue. Increase or decrease of protein spot intensity was estimated by Progenesis Samespot analysis software and images were normalized prior to applying any statistics. Spots excised for identification are indicated by arrows. Circles represent spots showing variation both in protein expression and in thiol oxidation (see Table 4).
