Activity in the ACC was linked to reduced ratings for low-arousing stimuli in older adults. In older adults, increased activity in the ventral anterior cingulate cortex (vACC)/ventro-medial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) correlated negatively with the ratings for low arousing negative stimuli. The scatterplot is based on the parameter estimates corresponding to the peak voxel in the area of vACC/vmPFC showing negative correlation with the behavioral ratings.
