Human PBMCs produce CHI3L1 upon stimulation with P. falciparum. PBMCs were exposed to medium alone, uninfected red blood cells (RBCs; negative control), P. falciparum infected RBCs (Pf), or LPS (positive control) for 8 and 24 hrs. (A)Chi3l1 mRNA was assessed by quantitative real-time PCR, and (B) CHI3L1 concentration in supernatants was measured by ELISA. Graphs represent pooled data from at least 3 independent experiments using different PBMC donors.
