The y-axis denotes the relative position (in the 5′ to 3′ direction) of the PAC within the intron; y-axis values greater than 0.5 indicate that the respective PAC is nearer the 3′ end than to the 5′ end of the corresponding intron. Numbers of introns are 2296 and 2501 for Arabidopsis and M. truncatula, respectively. B. The lengths of introns with PACs. For the random intron collections, the same numbers of Arabidopsis or M. truncatula introns were chosen randomly from the complete set of intron sequences. Ath: Arabidopsis; Mtr: M. truncatula. Median values are 313 nt, 670 nt, 98 nt and 203 nt, respectively.
