Prevention of EBD uptake in sapje embryos by fluoxetine treatment. Four dpf embryos were co-injected in the peri-cardial space with EBD (to detect impaired membrane continuity) and dextran-FITC (as a marker for successful systemic injection) and then examined 2 h later. Wild-type littermate control embryos displayed no EBD uptake (n = 25, left panel). Untreated sapje embryos contained abundant areas of EBD positive myofibers (arrow) (n = 6, middle panel). Treated sapje embryos (confirmed by genotyping after treatment) were comparable to wild-type, with no EBD uptake in skeletal muscle (n = 3 sapje confirmed by genotyping, right panel).
