Example of bead scattering factor correction (proline, side chain 1): the dashed curve is calculated according to equation (10). The value for q = 0 does not satisfy equation (11) (cf. Table 1). Therefore only the points after the inflection point (following the minimum) were used for the sixth-order polynomial curve fitting (stars). The value at q = 0 (from Table 1) is used as an equality constraint (filled circle). This yields the corrected bead scattering factor (solid line).
