PEA-15 in multiple disease states. PEA-15 acts as both a tumour suppressor and a tumour promoter in cancer by inhibiting proliferation and invasion of cancerous cells and mediating resistance to TRAIL-induced apoptosis, respectively. PEA-15 is also overexpressed in type 2 diabetes and PCOS causing altered glucose transport. Reduced PEA-15 expression inhibits VSM cell proliferation in cardiovascular disease and the levels of PEA-15 are also reduced in various neurodegenerative diseases.
