Table 1. Particle radii of wt hPrP 121–231 and its mutants determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS).

RH (nm)
Protein RHcalc (nm) 0 min 1 min 30 min 60 min
wt hPrP121–231 1.8 1.9 ± 0.1 >100 >100 n.d.a
hPrP121–231 M129T 1.8 1.9 ± 0.1 >100 >100 n.d.a
v-hPrP121–231 1.8 1.7 ± 0.4 17.3 ± 2.7 15.0 ± 2.5 n.d.a

Metal-induced oxidation of hPrP121–231 and its mutants was performed at 37 °C. After indicated time periods the hydrodynamic radii of the proteins were analyzed. RH, hydrodynamic radius; RHcalc, theoretical hydrodynamic radius calculated from the molecular mass; n.d.a, no significant count rate detected.
