Pretreatment with proteinase K nearly abolishes the ability of the ΔpgfS strain to bind to collagen and invade HCAEC. OMZ175 and its ΔpgfS and CpgfS derivatives were treated with 3 μg ml−1 of proteinase K for 30 min, and their abilities to bind to collagen (A) and invade HCAEC (B) were assessed.
