DG17 | 22 | I, II, III | ++++ (Mϕ; microglia) | ++++ | ++ |
Three main types of lesions were observed: type I, perivascular histolytic with MNGCs; type II, severe parenchymal with white matter damage; type III, chronic burnt out.
Subjective semiquantitative scoring (from −, indicating no change over control brain sections, to ++++, indicating most severe) for the presence of SIVp27 and reactivity with the macrophage/microglia (CD68/CD163) and GFAP astrocyte marker by immunohistochemistry. Mϕ, macrophage; ND, not performed.
