U87-MG cells are responsive to type I IFN signaling. (A and B) The type I IFN-inducible genes for PKR and APOBEC3G in a panel of established cell lines were induced by exogenous IFN-α at 200 U/ml. Induction of PKR and APOBEC3G was measured by qRT-PCR at 8, 16, and 24 h post-addition of IFN-α. The fold induction was calculated relative to the response in untreated cells, and the relative expression level of each gene was calculated by 2−ΔΔCT.
