The peripheral B cell compartment is not altered in type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients. The frequency of the six B cell subsets robustly characterized in this study was compared between 45 T1D patients (long-standing and newly diagnosed; depicted by red circles) and 45 healthy donors matched for age, sex and time of sample preparation (depicted by blue squares). P-values were calculated using a two-tailed paired t-test. Horizontal bars represent the mean frequency in each genotype group and error bars depict the 95% confidence interval of the mean. Additional data from the statistical analysis are provided in Table 2.
