MALDI product ion spectra of peptide HNE adducts on Cys (A) and His (B). CIDMS/MS (1 keV) was performed using a MALDI ToF-ToF instrument. Note the neutral loss of the oxylipid due to retro Michael fragmentation. CID-MS/MS studies of peptides with oxylipid adduction on histidine residues yield as diagnostic product ions His-oxylipid immonium ions.
