Effects of 4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid (4-HPA) on seawater instillation-induced mortality in rats. Drowning model rats were prepared with or without different does of 4-HPA (50, 100 or 150 mg/kg body weight, i.p.). 4-HPA was administered after seawater instillation for 10 min. The mortality of rats were recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 h after seawater instillation in each group (n = 20). * p < 0.05 vs. seawater group, # p < 0.01 vs. seawater group.
