Allopregnanolone treatment diminishes neurobehavioural deficits in mice affected by EAE. MOG-immunized mice received daily intraperitoneal injections of allopregnanolone (ALLO; 10 mg/kg) after the onset of neurological symptoms until the end of scoring period. Consistent with neuropathological findings, allopregnanolone treatment significantly diminished clinical disease severity in mice over the course of the disease (A). Treatment of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis mice with allopregnanolone also significantly reduced the maximum score reached by each animal during the disease period (B) as well as the total clinical score (sum of scores) (C).
