1

Only areas demonstrating GHSR in situ signal and/or eGFP fluorescence are listed.

2

Endogenous eGFP fluorescence was estimated qualitatively based on number of labeled cells: ++++, highest density; +++, high density; ++, moderate density; +, low density; +/-, inconsistent labeling, -, background density.

3

Expression of eGFP-IR and GHSR mRNA were estimated qualitatively based both number of labeled cells and signal strength: ++++, highest density; +++, high density; ++, moderate density; +, low density; +/-, inconsistent labeling, -, background density.

4

The percentage of eGFP-IR neurons co-expressing GHSR mRNA was determined at all positive levels through the brain for each nucleus. Criteria for co-localization are described in materials and methods. The data are reported as the mean percentage ± SEM for three different brains. NA, No co-localization observed. IR, immunoreactivity or immunoreactive.
