Figure 1

Proton-decoupled 15N solid-state NMR spectra of PS at peptide/lipid ratios of 1.0 mol % in uniaxially oriented lipid bilayers. The spectra are from (3,3,3-2H3-Ala-11, 15N-Ala-14)-PS-1 (A and D), (3,3,3-2H3-Ala-8, 15N-Leu-15)-PS-2 (B, E, and G), and (3,3,3-2H3-Ala-11, 15N-Val-12)-PS-3 (C and F). AC and G were recorded at sample orientations of the membrane normal parallel to Bo and DF at alignments of the membrane normal perpendicular to Bo. AF represent spectra of peptides reconstituted into oriented POPC lipid bilayers, whereas G was obtained in the presence of POPC/POPS (3:1 mol/mole).
