Percent area occupied by PECAM-1 inmunoreactivity in 350μm wide regions of interest beginning at the glial scar margin is a proxy for vascular density; average area of each PECAM-1-positive image region is a proxy for vascular length and diameter. There was a significant difference in both measures between MEM-and vehicle-treated animals (indicated by asterisks).
