Possible model for O-GlcNAc signalling-mediated regulation of TaVRN1 mRNA abundance for flowering transition in winter wheat during vernalization. Under non-vernalization conditions, TaGRP2 binds TaVRN1 and represses its transcript accumulation. Vernalization induces VER2 expression and increases the O-GlcNAcylation level on TaGRP2. Phosphorylated VER2 (VER2-P) translocates into the nucleus and interacts with O-GlcNAcylated TaGRP2 (TaGRP2-G), then releases the repression of TaGRP2 on TaVRN1 transcript accumulation.
