PCR screening for gammaproteobacterial endosymbionts. Gammaproteobacterial-specific primers were used on _TDNA from P. citri (lane 2), D. boninsis (lane 3), P. viburni (lane 4), P. longispinus (lane 5), P. peruvianus (lane 6), and P. madeirensis (lane 7). The quality of samples from P. peruvianus and P. madeirensis was tested using 16S rDNA universal primers (lanes 9 and 10, respectively). Lanes 8 and 11 are the results of negative controls for each pair of primers.
