Effects of propofol on survival of mice treated with LPS. Wild type C57BL/6 mice were pretreated with 10% intralipid or propofol (50 mg/kg, i.p.) followed by LPS (20 mg/kg, i.p.) as described in Section 2. After LPS administration, survival of mice was monitored at every 12 h for 72 h. Survival was significantly decreased in LPS group (n = 16) and propofol partially reversed by propofol (n = 16) compared with control (n = 6) and propofol alone (n = 6) group (*P < 0.05 compared with control group; ^† P < 0.05 compared with LPS group).
