Proposed mechanism for yPDE1 catalysis. The catalysis may contain the following steps. (A) The bridging hydroxide ion is activated by Asp132 and attacks the phosphorus of cGMP. (B) Formation of the intermediate of the reaction. (C) His294 donates a proton to the intermediate. (D) Completion of the reaction. This mechanism is assumed to apply to the catalysis of cAMP by yPDE1, too.
