A diagram illustrating our working model for USP33 function in Slit signaling in lung cancer cells. In the normal lung cells, Slit2 binds to Robo1 and activates downstream molecules, modulating the actin cytoskeleton and inhibiting cell migration. Deubiquitinylating enzyme USP33 reduces the ubiquitination and degradation of Robo1, thereby stabilizing Robo1 protein. However, in lung cancer cells, reduced USP33 expression leads to increased ubiquitination and degradation of Robo1, inactivating Slit signaling in inhibiting lung cancer cell migration
