Lower preoperative hemoglobin is associated with proportionally greater incidence of postoperative adverse outcomes by multivariate analysis. Stepwise multivariate logistic regression analysis of association between preoperative hemoglobin (Hb) as the continuous variable and (A) mortality, (B) sepsis, (C) CVA, and (D) postoperative dialysis. Odds ratio (OR) is calculated per each 1-g/dl decrement of preoperative Hb as a continuous variable.
