Ferrets initiated trials at the central poke-hole, which triggered the presentation of stimuli from speakers positioned above the poke-holes on the left and on the right. Light barriers in poke-holes on either side registered the ferrets' responses. On rewarded trials, ferrets received water rewards via spouts secured in the poke-holes.
