^aMICs of ciprofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and levofloxacin for the S. aureus strains tested were determined using the tube broth dilution method with Mueller-Hinton broth supplemented with 5% sodium chloride. Approximately 10⁵ CFU of S. aureus per ml was added to doubling dilutions of antibiotics and incubated at 35°C for 24 h. The MIC was designated as the lowest concentration that inhibited growth of Staphylococcus as determined by the absence of turbidity. The values presented are the means of three or more separate determinations.
