Effect of S protein cleavage inhibition on cell-cell fusion. LR-7 cells were infected with MHV-SA59R10 (R10) or MHV-SA59H716D in phosphate-buffered saline-DEAE at an MOI of 10. In the case of MHV-SA59H716D-infected cells, the furin inhibitor was added to the culture medium to a concentration of 75 μM at 1 h postinfection and maintained at this concentration throughout the experiment.
