Hydrolysis of LTA d-alanine esters leads to LTA inactivation in NO production. d-alanine esters were hydrolyzed at pH 8.5 for 24 h. RAW 264.7 cells (1 × 104 cells per well) were stimulated with 10 µg/mL Bacillus LTA, reference S. aureus LTA or reference LPS for 48 h. Nitrite production was measured as described previously (Green et al. 1982). Values are median ± S.D. of three replicates for each group
