N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor activation induces TBR1 expression in cultured neurons. (A) Mature amygdalar neurons at 21 DIV were treated with glutamate (50 μM) for 10 min and transferred to normal culture medium for 2 more hours. Neurons were then fixed and immunostained with TBR1 and MAP2 antibodies. Quantitative data show the relative intensity of TBR1 fluorescence. (B–D) The mature amygdalar (B), cortical (C), and hippocampal (D) neurons were incubated with NMDA (10 μM) for 6 h. After staining with TBR1 and MAP2 antibodies, the means of TBR1 fluorescence intensities are shown in (E–G). Scale bars: 20 μm. All data represent the mean + SEM.
