Measured transmission spectra and phases of right-handed circularly polarized (RCP, solid line) and left-handed circularly polarized (LCP, dashed line) waves are plotted for different gap widths g. While the transmission difference between RCP and LCP waves is very small due to the small absorption, the phase difference is significant due to the large optical activity.
