Screening of P. vulgaris cultivars for susceptibility to Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV). (A) Mock inoculated plants (top panel) and BPMV-0 inoculated plants (bottom panel) were photographed under natural light at 28 days post-inoculation (dpi). For BPMV-0, mechanical inoculation was made by rubbing of infected leaf sap. (B) Semi-quantitative RT-PCR of BPMV RNA1 and RNA2 in mock- and BPMV-0 treated plants. Ubiquitin (PvUBI) was used as an internal control. Total RNA was extracted at 21 dpi from the third trifoliate leaf of three plants for Black Valentine, BAT93 and G19833 and from the second trifoliate leaf for JaloEEP558.
