Results of simulations of an experiment testing generalization decrements after the addition and subtraction of stimuli from a training compound using REM (top) and ECM (bottom). Each simulation was run using three different values of the free parameters ρ and δ. Only REM can reproduce an asymmetrical generalization decrement. ECM predicts the same decrement in responding after adding or subtracting stimuli from a compound.
