Influenza B viruses replicated efficiently but were not restrictived to the upper respiratory tract. All nasal wash (a), trachea (b) and lung (c) samples from infected ferrets were collected on the specified days pi and processed before titration on MDCK cells (TCID50 ml−1). A square bracket represents significant difference among the infections (P <0.05) and an asterisk represents significant difference from B/Brisbane/60/2008 infection by Bonferroni–Holm test (post-hoc analysis).
