Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) does not rescue endothelium-dependent relaxation (EDR) through actions on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) expression. Rat aortic rings were subjected to various experimental conditions (phenylephrine (Phe); Phe plus acetylcholine (ACh); hydrogen peroxide (H2O2, 200 μM); TMP (10 nM) plus H2O2; losartan (1 μM) plus H2O2; or removal of the endothelium). The bar graph shows the ratio of the eNOS integrated density value (IDV) to the glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) IDV for each experimental condition. Data represent the mean ± the standard error of the mean (SEM) of 5–8 independent experiments.
