Transforming activity of UBR5–ZNF423. (a) By western blotting, the expression of UBR5–ZNF423 fusion protein in the stable UBR5–ZNF423-transfected NIH3T3 cells and tumours dissected from the xenografts (T1–T4) was detected; *non-specific bands. (b) Stable expression of UBR5–ZNF423 induces the anchorage-independent growth of NIH3T3 cells. Significant increase in number and size of colonies in the stable UBR5–ZNF423-expressing cells was demonstrated by soft agar assay. (c) In vivo tumourgenic assay in nude mice showed that tumours formed in the sites implanted with NIH3T3 cells expressing UBR5–ZNF423 (T1–T4, red arrows) were consistently larger than those implanted with vector controls (N1–N4, green arrows).
