Neurite responses to protein binding. βIII tubulin stained neurite growth inside CNBC-agarose with immobilized protein in lower channel. Labels indicate type of protein immobilized as well as DRG spinal regions tested. Culture conditions of 5 ng/mL NGF (A) or 20 ng/mL NGF (B) were used. Neurites only exhibited a chemorepulsive response to Sema6A at the lumbosacral region, avoiding the channel containing immobilized Sema6A. Equal volumes of growth were apparent in channels containing immobilized protein and channels lacking bound for all other proteins and spinal levels.
