Ghrelin had no effect on GLUT4 mRNA expression levels in C2C12 cells (A); however, ghrelin stimulated GLUT4 translocation to the cell membrane as shown both by Immunofluorescence staining. Arrows indicate GLUT4 localization in the cytoplasm (Ba) and itstranslocation to the cell surface (Bb). In other experiments (C), western blot analysis with a specific antibody for GLUT4 was performed on membranes extracted from C2C12 either treated or not treated with ghrelin. The examples shown are representative of three experiments.
