User feedback – final stage of development.

Functionality Formatting/utilization Relevance
Goals:
  1. To evaluate participants’ ability to navigate the program effectively.

  2. To determine if instructions are clear (e.g., how to access website, how to navigate through program, how to answer survey questions).

  3. To evaluate image and sound clarity of video clips.

Goals:
  1. To ascertain if formatting changes may be needed:

    • Surveys and intervention background colors, layout

    • Font, size, bolding, un

    • Flow/order of survey questions and PRE-ACT tool derlining, etc.

    • Video clip size, image quality

  2. To verify time needed to complete the surveys and NIH/NCI clinical trials materials

Goal:
  1. To determine if content is clear and speakers are relevant to users.

Feedback:
  • Did not read directions first – maybe have them across the top instead? People might miss them where they are currently located.

  • Add to directions that you can print a copy of the informed consent.

  • Barriers section directions – add “or disagree.”

  • “Your Feelings” section – want to see parameters as opposed to numbers in the answer choices.

  • User profile – liked that it pulled up previous answers to make preferences more understandable

  • Would like website and phone number pop-ups during the “Where can I find information about clinical trials?” video.

  • Put on screen that all videos are available later on, before the video selection.

  • Liked the parameters on the “confidence” section questions.

Feedback:
  • Welcome page dull –more color.

  • Buttons were large and easy to find.

  • Liked the progress bar.

  • Some bullet points did not appear in the informed consent portion using Internet Explorer 6.

  • Surveys – liked the fonts, colors, clearly labeled buttons, and big check marks.

  • Like the shading in between questions.

  • Videos need to fit bottom buttons on the screen.

  • Clicked “next” after videos and went to a video other than the one selected.

  • The woman avatars did not match up with the video list.

  • Video library fonts could be bigger.

  • Clicking on cancer.gov opens a new browser.

  • No navigation or flow issues.

  • Did not like that the survey options do not scroll down – all options need to be seen.

  • Did not like the scrolling but eventually did get used to it. Would rather see fewer questions per page to prevent scrolling.

  • Disliked the direction box and scrolling.

  • Length was a little long, but not unbearable

  • Overwhelmed by the number of videos to choose from.

  • Length of follow-up survey was fine.

  • Took 1.5 h to complete.

Feedback:
  • “Informed consent” might be a confusing term – maybe implied? The capitalization makes it seem important.

  • Clear wording in the consent forms without being too “dumbed down.”

  • Love the decision making cartoons – they add clarity and dimension.

  • Overall easy to read and felt very involved in it.

  • Overall – good general overview of clinical trials. Would have liked an example of a clinical trial as proof of benefit.
