The levels of K48- and K63-linked polyubiquitin chains on Rpb1 increases upon DNA damage-independent stalling. Polyubiquitin chains formed on Rpb1 in Δctk1, Δdst1, Δtho2 and Δbur2 cells are mainly K63-linked. Experiment as in Figure 2A. The nature of polyubiquitin chains on Rpb1 was assessed by western blotting using K48- and K63-ubiquitin specific antibodies (Apu2.07 and Apu3.A8 (Genentech), respectively; upper panels). Columns representing the level of K63-chains are plain and the ones for K48-chains hatched. Levels of polyubiquitylated Rpb1 were normalized to the amount of purified Rpb1.
