Oligomerization of gB and gB843. CHO-K1 cells were transfected with an EBV control plasmid or with a wt gB or gB843 expression plasmid, as indicated. After 24 h of transfection, 1 × 10⁶ cells were first lysed in 100 μl lysis buffer (20 mM Tris-HCl [pH 7.4], 100 mM NaCl, 1 mM EDTA, 5 mM MgCl₂, 1% Triton X-100, 1× protease inhibitor) and then centrifuged at 13,000 rpm for 5 min. Equal amounts of 2× SDS sample buffer with a low level of SDS (0.2%) were added to the supernatant. The samples were then analyzed on Bio-Rad 7.5% mini-Protean TGX gels. The data are representative of results from three independent experiments.
