Examples of illusory contours demonstrated in Xenotoca eiseni (Sovrano and Bisazza, 2009). After being trained to discriminate different shapes fish were presented with illusory squares and triangles created through interruption of diagonal lines (A); spatial phase shift of diagonal lines (B); or through the Kanizsa displays (C).
