The in vitro values are obtained in [28] by fitting the model, using a gradient descent method, to cortical plasticity data presented in Figure 8a (frequency dependence of synaptic plasticity for a fixed relative pre- post- spike timing) of [6]. In vivo calcium amplitudes are scaled from the in vitro values according to the change in extracellular calcium concentration.
