SHG image of collagen fibers recorded in backscattering mode using a confocal upright microscope (Olympus FV1000 MPE BX61 Multiphoton Microscope) pumped at 860 nm (Spectra-Physics, Mai Tai). The fibers exhibited intrinsic ordering that resulted in high contrast images and were evenly distributed throughout the sample.
