Growth of E. faecalis was measured (see Materials and Methods) in the presence of increasing concentrations of hBD3 (A) or of the lipopeptide KGGK (B). Percent growth inhibition was calculated compared with that of untreated bacteria during the logarithmic phase of the non treated bacteria. Generation time was calculated from each curve using the section representing the exponential growth phase (C).
