129S6/SvEv (WT) and STAT1 KO mice were inoculated with 1 × 104 CFU of C. neoformans strain H99γ. Pulmonary F4/80+ macrophages were isolated from the lungs of WT and STAT1 KO mice at days 7 and 10 post-inoculation with C. neoformans strain H99γ. Total RNA was extracted and transcripts were analyzed for markers and cytokines associated with M1 (A) and M2 (B) macrophage activation. The indicated mRNA levels were normalized to GAPDH. Results are expressed as mean ± SEM and are cumulative of 3 experiments utilizing 5 mice per group per time point. (*p < 0.01, **p < 0.001, ***p < 0.0001)
