The pro-regions of LOX and LOXL 1 enable extracellular interaction. The four scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domains are thought to be involved in cell-cell or protein-protein interactions. All LOX family members have a highly conserved C-terminal region that contains the catalytic domain. The copper-binding domain is also in the C-terminal region.
