The double β-barrel fold is conserved in a viral lineage found within all three domains of life. The conserved coat protein fold of STIV B345 (PDB ID 2BBD [19]), PRD1 P3 (PDB ID 1GW7 [24]), and PBCV-1 Vp54 (PDB ID 1J5Q [21]) from viruses that infect hosts in Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya, respectively.
