Expression of bb0238 by spirochetes in infected murine tissues. RNA was isolated from tissues collected 2 weeks postinfection from mice needle inoculated with Bb297 at a dose of 105 spirochetes. Samples were analyzed in triplicate by qRT-PCR to quantify bb0238 expression. The results are representative of a single infection experiment; n = 5 mice. The error bars represent SEM. Statistical significance was determined using an unpaired Student t test. The asterisks indicate a statistically significant difference relative to heart or tibiotarsal tissue (P < 0.05).
