Plotted is 1/J∞ versus γ, which separates the fluid phase from the lo/ld coexistence region (squares indicate the results of our finite-size scaling analysis, the dot marks the exact location of the two-dimensional Ising critical point). For γ < γtri (γ > γtri), the transition between the fluid and the lo/ld region is two-dimensional Ising-critical (first-order). Based on the scaling analysis of Fig. 6c, we estimate the tricritical point to be ∼ γtri ∼ 0.6–1.0. To see this figure in color, go online.
