The ratio of nutrient exposure CV/CE versus l/L and gc(L). Here CV (CE) is the average nutrient exposure when the three-step (two-step) swimmers are exposed to exponentially distributed chemoattractant in a box of size 2L. The advantage of three-step over two-step swimming becomes more significant when the scale of the chemical distribution, l, is small compared to the size of the box L and the bacteria have a large gain factor g.
